Guntry To Cease Operations At The Highlands Monday

Guntry, the high-end indoor shooting range, training facility and cafe that opened at The Highlands in March 2025, will cease operations on Monday. The facility sent an email to its members of its impending closure on Friday.

The last day to shoot at the facility and the last retail day will be Sunday. Guntry General Manager Jason Rine said anyone with gift certificates who need to redeem them after Monday can contact the facility via email at info@guntrywv.com to set something up.

Rine said that, at a board of directors meeting Wednesday in Guntry’s Maryland headquarters, the decision was made to close The Highlands facility, citing a lack of necessary customer traffic to remain open.

“In spite of all their efforts, they could no longer financially sustain the facility,” Rine said.

At its opening, Guntry sported 18 25-yard shooting ranges and four indoor 100-yard ranges, along with space for bowhunting practice. It housed a 48-seat cafe with full kitchen, lockers, a tactical simulator room and an 80-seat classroom that can be used for instruction or private functions.

“This is a top-10 indoor gun range in the United States,” Rine said. “It really is a world-class facility with an amazing staff and a really good restaurant. In 14 months, I don’t think that I’ve ever fielded a complaint about the experience, the staff, the cleanliness, the food, the entire process from beginning to end.”

Yet, in the end, the number of people who came through the doors in that 14 months wasn’t able to keep those doors open. Rine said that it wasn’t for a lack of trying at any level, from the local employees to the corporate headquarters.

“The (ownership) group from Maryland, they went above and beyond to try to make this work,” he said, “and try to keep this afloat for a considerable amount of time, a lot of times to the detriment of themselves.”

Guntry is headquartered in Owings Mills, Maryland. The Highlands site was the company’s second.

Starting at $2.99/week.
