Ogden Fun Run Proves Fun For Entire Family

WHEELING - Children ages 12 and under lined up in droves to compete in the Ogden Fun Run presented by Bordas & Bordas during the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine.
The fun run is a non-competitive race that began at the start/finish line on 14th Street while children made their way through Wheeling back to the finish line.
Carter Becca and sister Lynnea Becca participated in their first Ogden Fun Run presented by Bordas & Bordas on Saturday morning.
Carter, 11, plays hockey and baseball, while Lynnea, who is 7, plays softball.
Their mother Kayla Becca said that the family thought the race would be a good way to stay active during the summer. Their father Chad Becca ran along the siblings in their inaugural race.
Chad Becca said that the race provided and opportunity for him and his wife to teach their children to be active and healthy, and to keep moving.
Chelsea Helmick's son Kyson Helmick also participated in the Ogden Fun Run presented by Bordas & Bordas.
He participated with his friends and second-grade Wheeling Country Day School classmates Emilio Carrigan and Finn McKee. In addition to the friend group, Carrigan's brother Leonardo Carrigan and McKee's brother Rory McKee are also kindergarten classmates who brought their friend and Wheeling Country Day School classmate Sophia Bowman.
"This is one of our favorite weekends to get out,” Chelsea Helmick said. “It’s just such a fun family weekend.”
The race began at the start/finish line on 14th Street, and headed up to Chapline Street where it turned right, and traveled south on Chapline to 16th Street. It then turned left and traveled one block to Eoff Street where it then turned left onto Eoff St and traveled North on Eoff to 11th Street before descending the small hill by the YWCA and then turned left back onto Chapline St, and traveled South on Chapline back to 14th Street where it turned right onto 14th Street and traveled back to the finish line.
