Ohio Friends Tackle Tough As Nails

WHEELING - Friends Amber Johnson of Marietta, Ohio, and Robin Hawkins of Beverly, Ohio, decided to take on the Tough As Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan together on Sunday during the Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine.
The duo said it was their second year tackling the course.
Johnson said one of the most difficult parts of the course was getting across the swimming pool. Though she fell in last year, she admitted it was kind of nice to cool off after climbing the long set of stairs just before.
Hawkins said she has participated in other obstacle events such as the Spartan Race, but it is different compared to Tough As Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan.
"The Spartan is a little harder, but it's not in the city and it has less steps," she said.
They noted the city of Marietta does not host any large races like Wheeling, but does have the occasional 5K race they enjoy running in.
