WHEELING - Husband Robert Kinnick and wife Denise Kinnick took on Tough as Nails Urban Challenge presented by The Health Plan with their son Andrew. The family completed their fourth Tough as Nails on Sunday.

Denise said that the family keeps coming back to the course for the bragging rights each year.

"We've done the Spartan Challenge and Tough Mudder before, and then when this became available locally we said well we've already done a couple other things like this, so it felt comfortable, I guess," she said.

Robert joked that he was most looking forward to and dreading the 400 steps of the “Stairway to Heaven” the competition will take to complete.

"Getting those 400 steps behind us gives us a sense of accomplishment," Robert said.

Denise added that the section of the course involving the pool is always fun, and she enjoys going up and down the stairs because it shows her that she can still complete the many flights of stairs.

"It makes you kind of feel like a kid, knowing that you can still do that," she said.

Both Robert and Denise are 62 years old and believe the course is a great way to continue to stay physically active.

Robert said that he is very glad that the rain held off and hopes that everyone has a safe and fun Tough as Nails day.

Andrew is no stranger to the annual Ogden Newspapers Wellness Weekend presented by WVU Medicine. He has competed in various half marathons throughout the years but now the family only competes in the Urban Challenge.
