Afternoon Storms Lead To Localized Flooding In Marshall County

By From STAFF REPORTS 1 min read

The heavy rains that blew through the Ohio Valley on Tuesday afternoon led to some flooded areas and one rescue in Marshall County, according to the Marshall County Emergency Management Association.

According to Marshall County EMA, a 911 call came in Tuesday afternoon from a driver who had tried to pass through floodwaters and got stuck. The Glen Dale and McMechen volunteer fire departments, Glen Dale Police, Marshall County EMS, Marshall County Sheriff’s Department West Virginia Department of Natural Resources and Marshall County EMA all responded, and Glen Dale VFD was able to rescue the driver safely.

Floodwaters also temporarily closed Little Grave Creek Road, Glen Haven Avenue and Willow Lane in Glen Dale, but all three roads were open again shortly after 5 p.m. The rain also caused 21st Street in McMechen to flood, a persistent problem in that area of McMechen when heavy rains come through.
