WHEELING - Residents in West Virginia House of Delegates District 4 have a new delegate to represent them through the end of the year.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey announced Tuesday he had appointed auctioneer Shane Stack of Triadelphia to fill the seat vacated by now Supreme Court Justice Bill Flanigan.
Morrisey chose the delegate from among three names submitted to him by the Ohio County Republican Executive Committee - Stack, businessman Jordan Cline of Wheeling, and retired sales professional John Arritt of Wheeling.
Stack will serve out the remainder of Flanigan's term, which expires Dec. 31. He will not appear on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
Ennis remains eligible to serve if elected and will appear as the Republican nominee on the general election ballot.
Derrick Ennis won the Republican nomination to the seat in this year's primary election, but he could not apply to fill the vacancy as Ennis had not been affiliated with the Republican party for more than a year. This is a state requirement for the application.
"I am honored by the appointment," Stack said Tuesday. "I look forward to working with the other delegates. I am happy to serve the citizens of Ohio County and the Northern Panhandle."
