The death of a man on Heritage Trail in South Wheeling was due to an apparent bicycle accident, according to the Wheeling Police Department.
There are no ongoing safety concerns, the WPD said, and the Heritage Trail his open.
According to the WPD, officers and fire department personnel initially responded to a medical emergency at around 5:20 p.m. Saturday on Heritage Trail near the Interstate 470 bridge in South Wheeling. The incident was later determined to involve an apparent bicycle accident. The man later died from his injures.
WPD is investigating the incident.
