WOODSFIELD -- A juvenile was killed and three others were injured Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Monroe County that authorities say may have involved alcohol or drug impairment.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at about 5:15 p.m. on Township Road 350, also known as Wolf Pen Road, in Center Township.
According to the patrol, Britney N. Timberman, 39, of Woodsfield was driving a 2006 Honda Accord southbound when she failed to maintain control. The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.
A juvenile passenger was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at the scene. Three other juveniles suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening and received treatment at the scene and at area hospitals.
The patrol said alcohol and drug impairment are suspected as contributing factors in the crash. No charges were announced in the release.
Antioch EMS, Woodsfield Fire and EMS, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Monroe County Coroner's Office and Stephens Towing assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol's St. Clairsville Post.
