Ohio County Commissioners Will Try Again With Live Streaming

WHEELING -- The Ohio County Commission tried earlier this year to livestream its meetings, but the effort was short-lived.
But maybe as soon as next month, the meetings will be back on the internet again, according to County Administrator Randy Russell.
"We did live-stream two meetings," he said. "Then the equipment failed. We are now working on a better solution to get a more consistent live stream.
"We have taken down our live stream until we are confident it will work each time."
At the center of commission meetings had been an Owl camera, which provides a 360-degree view and sound of meetings. The intention was to archive the resulting recording of the livestream.
But Russell explained there were issues getting the YouTube channel connected to the commission chamber's internet access. A couple of parts have been ordered to increase bandwidth within the boardroom.
"We have been working to solve the problem," he said. "We're hopeful (to have the livestream running) for the first meeting in October."
The Owl camera was in place for meetings occurring on Nov. 18 and Dec. 2, 2025, with participants taking part after receiving a Zoom link via email.
