MOUNDSVILLE - A large fire at Sweirkos Enterprises on School Road in Washington Lands led to a shelter in place order being issued for the Washington Lands, Round Bottom, and Roberts Ridge areas.
Marshall County Emergency Management Director Tom Hart said that the shelter in place order was issued due to heavy smoke that is present in the areas.
He added that a call came into the 911 Center at 11:36 a.m. informing dispatchers that there was a fire at Sweirkos Enterprises on School Road in Washington Lands just south of Moundsville.
"When first units arrived on scene, the building was fully involved," Hart said.
Fire departments from Marshall, Wetzel, and Belmont counties all responded to battle the flames.
W.Va. 2 in Washington Lands was closed in both directions.
Hart confirmed that the Fire Marshal’s Office has been contacted and will be arriving on the scene.
