MARY COMER

Mary Frances Comer, 81, of McMechen, WV, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at her home.

She was born September 16, 1933, in Benwood, WV, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Wysocki Witkowski.

Mary was retired from the former Green’s Donut Shop in Wheeling and a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Long; a brother, Edward Witkowski, and 4 sisters; Nellie Warble, Augustina Vallas, Kathryn Kuropatwa, and Sophie Polihonki.

Surviving are her husband, Louis R. Comer, and 9 children; Mary (Bob) Lufft of Wheeling, Pat (Orvel) Wilson of McMechen, Nancy Lee Taylor of Titusville, FL, William (Norene) Swanson of Mobile, AL, Cindy Lou Goddard of Benwood, Kevin Witkowski of Triadelphia, WV, Rob (Shannon) Comer of Rhinelander, WI, Tana (John) Santamarina of Wheeling, Kathleen Michaelucci of Benwood; a sister, Stella Czyzewski of Benwood; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood-McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall St., McMechen, WV, where vigil services will be held at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, with Rev. Doug Ondeck as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
