Lois Evelyn Loy Archey died at home on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the age of 86.
She was born the second daughter of Floyd W. Loy and Margaret McConnell Loy of Sherrard on January 4, 1930.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Archey Jr., a brother, Eugene Loy, an infant daughter, Vicky Lynn, and her best canine friend, Mabel Jane.
She is survived by her adoring children, Rick Archey and his wife, Mary Frances of Pittsburgh, Russ Archey and his wife, Deborah of Mt. Olivet, Randy Archey and his wife, Lisa of Sherrard, Rob Archey and his wife, Tina of McMechen, Rhonda Archey of Sherrard, Rita Custer and her husband, Wayne of Bethlehem, Roger Archey and his wife, Stacy of Bellaire, and Rodd Archey of Sherrard. Her grandchildren include Crystal Archey and her fiance, Charles Grubb, Jenna Bickford and her husband, Zack, David Smith and his wife, Jackie along with his children, Kiera and Kolton, Olivia Archey, Rose Archey, Heather Archey, William Archey, Julie Francis, Stephanie Archey, Danielle Archey, and Emily Archey. She considered them some of her greatest treasures.
Survivors also include her sister, Eleanor Loy, her brother, William "Sonny" Loy, sisters-in-law, Jean Knapp, Carol Loy and many nieces and nephews. She is also greatly missed by her "pound hound" Izzy Belle.
She graduated salutatorian from her class at Sherrard High School in 1948 and then went to work for the Hazel Atlas Glass Company as a secretary until she began her career as a mother and homemaker. After her family was grown, she helped care for many other families, including the Diane McGlaughlin family (Adam, Donnie, Peggy, and Pap Pap), the Ned and Patty Greeneltch family (Corey and Garrett), and the Randy and Joyce Cole family (Sarah, Seth, and Sabrina). She was also a second mother, grandmother, and friend to many of our Sorghum Ridge community, including the Kinneers, the Wards, the Shepherds, the McCombs, the Taylors, and the Fishers. All earned a place in her heart.
She has left a tremendous hole in many lives with her passing, but she lives in paradise now with those friends and family who have gone before in the presence of Our Lord and Savior. We look forward to the day we will join her in glory.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Allen Grove Presbyterian Church, the Marshall County Animal Shelter, or the Wheeling Soup Kitchen, which are just a few of her favorite charities she supported.
A memorial service will be held at the Allen Grove Church with a dinner to follow on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. A private ceremony for the disposition of ashes will be held at the family's convenience.
Her greatest wish is that everyone remembers her by showing a kindness to someone else and to treasure all whom you have with you while you can. She rests in peace.
