SHARI WALKER
Shari Lynne Walker, 73, of New Market, VA, passed away peacefully with family by her side Wednesday night, July 11, 2018 at RMH Medical Center, Harrisonburg.
Ms. Walker was born June 25, 1945 at Glen Dale, West Virginia the daughter of the late Hoilie and Margaret Hartzell Walker.
A graduate of Moundsville High School and Alderson Broaddous University.
Shari spent her 50-year career dedicated to bettering the lives of children as a teacher, preschool director, Christian Education Director and Social Worker. She was an extraordinarily devoted mother and grandmother, and when asked about her most cherished memories she said they were of “the times I’ve spent with my grand children.” Shari leaves behind a legacy of service to others; friends and family who love her dearly and a world made better because she was here.
She is survived by her only son; Keven Walker and his wife Amber; three grandchildren, Hunter, Daniel and Zoe; and two brothers, Ron and David Walker.
A celebration of Shari’s life will be held at Manor Memorial Methodist Church, New Market, on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Manor Memorial’s Children and Youth fund are being accepted.
The family would like to thank all of those who surrounded Shari with their love and care during the final months of her life; especially her lifelong friend, Ms. Lucy Sullivan.
