LOUISE BLANKENSHIP

Louise (Weise) Blankenship, 93, of Wheeling, passed peacefully Saturday, October 20, 2018.

She was born June 2, 1925 in Garnett, WV, a daughter of the late Jess and Mary Spencer Kerns.

Louise was a devoted wife, a loving and compassionate mother, and a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. She was active in UMW, WV homemakers in Moundsville for many years and also lead a non-denominational bible class.

Louise was artistic, she loved to sing, play the guitar and enjoyed painting ceramics. She crocheted many quilts, was a seamstress and most of all was an expert at baking pies. She enjoyed the beauty of the outdoors and watching humming birds.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E Blankenship in 1982, brothers, Jack Kerns, Jess Kerns Jr, William Henry Kerns, Sherman Kerns; sisters, Esther West, Mary DiCarlo, and dear friend, Edna (Francis) Scharf.

Louise is survived by daughter, Sandy (Brian) Jochum of Wheeling; two sons, Edward (Lynne) Blankenship of Wheeling and Richard (Carmina) Blankenship of Steubenville, OH; a loving sister, Barbara (Roy) Parr of Shadyside, OH, six grandchildren, Hillary Jochum (Auna Jochum great granddaughter), Haley (Stephen) Felton, Kristin Blankenship, Derek Blankenship, Eddie (Valerie) Blankenship, Lynette Blankenship, 10 additional great-grand children, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on October 25, 2018 from 4 – 8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St. Wheeling, WV (304- 242-2311) where a memorial celebration of Louise’s life will be held at 7 p.m. with Reverend Margie Carr officiating..

Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wheeling.
