TONY ANKROM

Anthony Alan Ankrom, 69, of Proctor, WV, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2020, in Wheeling Hospital.

Tony was born July 9, 1950, in Benwood, WV, a son of the late Robert and Frances (Kwiatkowski) Ankrom.

He was retired from American Electric Power, Mitchell Plant, Moundsville; attended the former Union High School, Benwood, WV; and was in the first graduating class of John Marshall High School.

Tony was a volunteer for the Young Marines, Moundsville, and was an avid World War II historian and collector of authentic World War II artifacts. He toured with the USS LST-325 landing ship from World War II, the last remaining World War II ship of its type, docked in Evansville, IN. He was also a gunsmith and a founding member of the Moundsville Rifle and Pistol Club.

Tony is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Karen Louise (Masters) Ankrom; a son, Steven (Tiffany) Ankrom of Benwood, WV; and two grandsons, Colton and Kain Ankrom.

Friends will be received at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood McMechen Chapel, 214 Marshall Street, McMechen, Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from 3 p.m. until time of funeral services at 6 p.m., with Life Celebrant David Wright officiating.
