ROBERT JONES
Robert Eugene Jones, MD, 78, of Wheeling, WV died on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at Liza’s Place, Wheeling, WV. Born on December 22, 1941 in Scribner, NE to the late Hershel and Marjorie Walraven Jones.
Robert was a retired surgeon at Wheeling Hospital, a graduate of WVU Medical School and worked his residency at the Indian Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. He was also a graduate of the University of Nebraska where he played four years of football, he also played for the Washington Redskins and the Wheeling Ironmen.
Robert loved watching football, especially Nebraska, he also enjoyed watching Robert and John Paul play sports.
Robert was a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling, WV.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded by; his brother, Richard Jones and a sister, Patricia Saatmann.
Surviving are his loving wife of 30 years, Rita Virginia Ball Jones, 2 sons, John Paul Jones and Robert C. Jones, 2 twin daughters, Patricia Jo Jones of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Pamela Jo Jones of Beaufort, SC; several grandchildren; 1 sister, Virginia Crum (Orville) of Kenesaw, NE; several nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Dorothy Ball.
A private service and interment were held at the convenience of the family at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV with Father Martin Smay officiating.
