SANDRA LOVEJOY

Sandra Street-Lovejoy went home to be with her Lord on June 7, 2020. She died peacefully with her husband, children and grandchildren with her. It was the way she chose to go; with those who meant so much to her close by.

Sandra was born in a Crittenton Home in Columbus, Ohio. Raised by foster parents, now deceased, she attended school in Columbus. After graduation from Columbus Central High School in 1960, she went to Ohio State University. At OSU, she met and married William Street and they were the parents of two children, Julie (William) Street-Kerns of Glen Easton, WV and Brian Street (Kathy Kirksey-Street) of Jacobsburg, Ohio.

Sandra started her college education at Ohio State University in 1960, but her education at Ohio State University in 1960 was interrupted and she did not return to OSU until 1977, after her children started school. The family moved to St. Clairsville, Ohio and she completed her Bachelors Degree in Nursing at Wheeling College (Wheeling Jesuit University) in 1983. She worked in Psychiatry/ Mental Health Nursing and later completed a Masters in Counseling from West Virginia University in 1989. Sandra was certified in Psychiatric/ Mental Health nursing, a Board Certified Counselor in Mental Health and Addiction, Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor, Master Addiction Counselor, and a Level II International Certified Gambling Counselor.

She served first as a Registered Nurse and later as the Director of the Family Program at Touchstones Treatment Program, East Ohio Regional Hospital; Director of the First Step Program and Division Director of Substance Abuse Services at Northwood Health Systems; Nurse Manager of Hillcrest-Ohio Valley Medical Center and started private practice in 1990. She provided Employee Assistance Program services to several area businesses, including Covestro, New Martinsville, Sledd Co., and Ziegenfelder.

She considered it a privilege to do the work she loved with patients and other professionals in the field. She had many professional accomplishments and she worked timelessly for patients and peers in her field. She was known for her expertise in professional ethics, her compassion for her patients and her knowledge and skill in her field.

In 2006, she married the love of her life, John Lovejoy and they enjoyed a wonderful but all-too-short life together. Her commitment to her faith, her husband, children, grandchildren and friends was the focus of her life. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, Emily and Cody Street and called their time together "the best days ever." She leaves other relatives, including John's sister, Lu Ritchie of Spencer, WV and his niece Pam Ritchie of Spencer, WV.

Sandra was a faithful friend and treasured her long friendships. She had what she called "a wonderful family of choice" and she loved each and every one of her long-time friends, including Alice and Tom Totterdale, Jean Curry, Jan Smith, Alana and Brad Archer; her godson, Brooks Louis Archer, Bob Keidan and her beloved dance groups and her special friends in the Tuesday lunch group.

Sandra could be counted on to use her God-given knowledge and skill to help others. She promised to be on our left shoulder. She will be missed.

In lieu of flowers, she requested support of Relay For Life, her favorite project because it supports those with cancer, their caregivers and cancer research. Your donation can be made directly to the American Cancer Society - Relay For Life Ohio County - Team Sandra.

Due to current circumstances, services and interment were held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be planned in the future.
