William “Bill” Chaikowsky of Moundsville, WV, passed away at home Thursday night from natural causes. He was 90 years old.

Bill was a Veteran of the Korean War, and served as a Corporal and Ammunition Specialist in the 696th Ordinance Ammunition Company.

A former employee of Allied Chemical (Later, Linden Chemicals and Plastics), he worked as an Operator and General Manager for 34 years. He also served as a Charter Member and President of Local 3-586 of the OCAW, and helped found Delta 6, an organization dedicated to workplace safety for plant workers in the Northern Panhandle.

He will be remembered for his sharp wit, sense of humor and gregarious personality. He was a great lover of Opera and had a voracious appetite for history and politics. He was naturally skilled in carpentry, craftmanship, storytelling, photography and cartooning.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and took immense pride in his family. He will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Theodora (Jaworski) Chaikowsky; son, Marc David Chaikowsky and his six siblings.

Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy (Litman) Chaikowsky of Moundsville; three childen, Bill Chaikowsky Jr. (Cindy Ellis) of Las Vegas, NV, Susan Chaikowsky (Bob Young) of Moundsville and Eric Chaikowsky of Pittsburgh, PA; five grandchildren, Kristopher Chaikowsky, Laura Chaikowsky, Keara Vickers, Janelle Vickers and Lydia Chaikowsky; great grandson, Tommy Zdon and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday, September28, 2020 from 6-8pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby Vance Chapels, 118 Grant Avenue Moundsville, where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 1pm.

Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Moundsville with Military graveside rites.
