Walter "Harpo" Kovalchie, 88, of South Wheeling, died Thursday, January 5th at home.
Walter was a graduate of Wheeling High School class of 1952. He was retired from the United States Postal Service.
He was a veteran of the US Navy.
He is preceded by his loving wife of 37 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Jean Fekete; step-son, Joseph Baranski; parents, John and Eva Kovalchie; brothers, John and Michael; and sisters, Mary, Anna, Katherine and Helen.
Surviving are his sister, Rosella George of Wheeling;step- daughter, Melissa (Matt) Schrebe of Wheeling; step-son, Craig (Nancy) Baranski of Wheeling; six step-grandchildren, Matthew (Jorden), Ryan (Michael) Marissa and Courtney Schrebe, and Mitchell and Abigail Baranski; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews including Becky and Don Cox and Susan George.
A viewing and the services will take place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023 from 10-11 a.m. to be followed by an 11 a.m. Mass with Father Charron as celebrant.
Interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
