William David Haney, 75, of Wheeling, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 10, 1947, in Rochester, PA, son of the late George S. and Margie Rowe Haney.
Bill was a loving husband, dad, and Pappy. He loved spending time with his family, and hunting with his son Brian. Bill retired from United Mine Workers as a heavy equipment operator, spending 35 years at Windsor Coal Company, and also worked part time at Kepner Funeral Home. He was an Air Force Veteran and was stationed in Germany from 1968-1970. He was an avid Steeler fan, member of UMWA, a volunteer firefighter with Clearview Fire Department for 23 years, loved gardening, relaxing at his pool, and a challenging game of Scrabble with his wife, Darlene.
Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Darlene Marie (Kolenc) Haney; son, Brian K. (Gina) Haney of Wellsburg, WV; daughter, Jodi M. (Shane) Walters of Wheeling, WV; two brothers, Bob (Trish) Haney and Denny Haney both of Wheeling, WV; one sister, Donna (David) Kendzerski of Wheeling, WV; two grandchildren, Jake A. and Julie M. Walters; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 2, 2023, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, Burke Chapel, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722) where services will be held Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Margie Carr officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
