Charles "Chuck" Richard Stocke, 77, passed away February 15, 2023 after his battle with Alzheimer's.
He was born November 26, 1945, son of the late Charles O. and Betty F. Schissler Stocke.
He was a lifelong resident of Wheeling and was deeply involved in helping people in need from around the Ohio Valley. For many years, he collected donated toys and clothes for families in need and delivered them while dressed as Santa Claus. During the Christmas season, he played Santa at many parties for children and loved spreading the Christmas spirit in and around the community.
In recent years, Chuck and his wife regularly worked with the Appalachian Christmas Project to provide greatly needed items to entire impoverished communities in Southern WV and several areas in KY. His giving nature was so strong and he loved helping others, especially the children.
He always found time to connect with his supportive family and loved to make everyone laugh. He worked very hard to provide for his family and was extremely proud of his children, Amy and Bob.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles "Bob" Robert Stocke.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Linda Hawkins Stocke; his loving daughter, Amy (Nelson) Anderson; and his only grandchild, Olivia Anderson, all of Preston, MD. He also leaves behind his sister; three brothers and their families; and countless friends whose lives he's touched throughout the years.
