Donald E. Grimes, 86, of Sistersville, WV, passed away February 4, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born December 8, 1936, in Tyler County, WV, the son of the late Earl Grimes and Bessie Howard Grimes.
Don was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ and spent several years serving as an Elder. He retired from Ormet Corpration with over 40 years of service, enjoyed the farm life, horses and gardening. He was known for sharing the crop with everyone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Neff Grimes; brother, Gary Grimes and sister, Doris Daugherty.
He is survived by his sons, Donald "Kevin" (Aleta) Grimes of Sistersville, WV, Dennis "Keith" (Laura) Grimes of Paden City, WV and Darrell "Kurt" (Amy) Grimes of Sistersville, WV; grandchildren, Timothy (Keri) Grimes, Melissa (Jeramie) Sovil, Pamela (Josh) Robinson, Lezlie (Ryan) Kinne, Justin (Jazman) Grimes, Jeremy (Erin) Grimes, Brandon (Sabrina) Grimes and John (Taylor) Brosky and great-grandchildren, Audrey, EdenRose, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Dillen, Lacey, Keelin, Kolby, Harper, Declan, Madison, Brayden and Garrett; sisters Joyce (Larry) Kaprich and Carolyn Clark.
The family would like to add a special thanks to Don's caretakers, Journey Hospice and Wetzel County Home Health.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Myers Funeral Home. The funeral will be on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. with Evangelist Niles Hissom officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
