NANCY MILLER

Nancy Kay Miller (nee Morris) was born March 31, 1940 to Margaret Kerby and Warren Francis Morris of Wheeling, WV. She grew up in Wheeling and graduated from Triadelphia High School, then studied at West Virginia University, eventually pursuing two masters degrees. She would later put these to use for the betterment of her community volunteering at Northwood Health Systems.

One fateful rainy day in Morgantown, while crossing through Woodburn Circle with an umbrella pulled low over her face-Nancy ran head first into JD Miller, a self-made law student, athlete, and business man who pursued her immediately and relentlessly. They were married September 2, 1961, Nancy in a custom wedding dress of her own design. Over more than 53 years together, JD and Nancy built the Miller family: three children, James Donald "Kip" Miller (Caroline), Jennifer Dawn Miller Wood (Michael), Joshua Dallas Miller (Teresa Toiseva) and seven grandkids; Ashley Miller Dunn (Brian), Kerby Wood, Logan Wood, Jordan Miller, James Miller. Adam Toriseva and Sydney Toresiva. "Nana": as she was known to us, was also beyond thrilled to have spent the last few years getting to know and love her two great- granddaughters, Evelyn Lou and Nora James Dunn.

For those who knew her, Nancy was best known for her shock of curly red hair, her passion for the Mountaineers (especially the pride of West Virginia) and her love of music- Sir Elton John, Carly Simon and Bread most of all. To us, her ability to bring family together was what made her "Nana", as over the years she hosted countless family holidays, birthdays and other parties at the Miller home. Whether she was serving up karaoke machine versions of "Rhinestone Cowboy" or "You're So Vain", you could always be sure that memories were being made.

Nancy Miller passed away peacefully in the early afternoon of February 18, 2023, surrounded by her family and comforted with music that she loved. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the WVU Marching Band.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 11am at Belmont County Memorial Park, St. Clairsville, OH with Reverend Margie Carr officiating.
