Stephanie Clare (Walton) Toland, 43, of Wheeling, WV, passed away suddenly, following a massive heart attack, on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at Wheeling Hospital – WVU.
She was born in Wheeling, on September 10, 1979, the daughter of Timothy and Joyce (Gramlich) Walton. Although she was born in Wheeling, she spent 10 years of her childhood in Florida, where she learned to roller skate and enjoyed the ocean.
Stephanie was an extremely skilled caregiver for 20 years before moving on to become a substitute teacher's aid with Ohio County Schools. She was well known for her kindness and caring ways, she would always be sure to take her neighbors homemade food or help them around the house. Stephanie was an avid Steelers and Mountaineers fan.
Stephanie, aka "Shaq", could make anyone laugh and smile and was truly the life of the party. She helped coach the Elm Grove Softball team for many years. Above everything, Stephanie's children and family were her world. She was her daughters' biggest cheerleader and ultimately their biggest fan, never missing an event. She will be missed by those terribly who knew who and her infectious laugh and smile.
She is preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Thomas and Shirley Toland; her maternal grandparents, William K. Gramlich and Joanne Gramlich Calmbacher and her paternal grandmother, Clara Walton.
In addition to her parents, Stephanie is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Michael Toland; two children, Bria Joanne and Ella Clare; her brother, Ryan (Janna) Walton; two nephews, Ian and Mason; sister-in-law, Penny (Bill) Littell; brother-in-law, Tom (Jennifer) Toland; her close friend Carol and her paisano, Patsy.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm, at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St. Where funeral services will be held Monday, February 20 at 11 am. Interment will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
