David Stamm Harman, age 89, died March 16, 2023, at Liza's Place in Wheeling, WV.
He was born February 24, 1934, In New Martinsville, WV, the son of the late Clarence Stamm Harman and Ruth Fisher Harman.
Dave was a 1952 graduate of Magnolia High School and a 1956 graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy. At WVU, he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity. He served in the U.S Army as a member of the Medical Service Corps. He then worked as a pharmacist at Walgreen's in Wheeling and OVMC Hospital pharmacy before returning to New Martinsville in 1960, where he was a co-owner of Harman's Drug Store, H&R Pharmacy, and the Plaza Card and Gift Shop until his well-earned retirement in 1992.
He was a former member of the board of directors of the First National Bank of New Martinsville, and Spectrum Financial of Wheeling, WV; a 60+ year member of the New Martinsville Rotary Club and the New Martinsville Moose Lodge 931. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, New Martinsville, and Christ United Methodist Church, Wheeling.
Dave's life was fully filled with love, laughter and very dear friendships. A lifetime of summers spent at his summer family home "The West Virginia Cottage" on Lake Erie in Geneva-on-the Lake, Ohio, coupled with many trips to the Caribbean with family and friends, brought him great joy.
He is survived by the love of his life of 62 years, Dorothy Dieckmann Harman, two daughters, Anne D. Harman of Wheeling, and Susan H. Confair (Bill) of Camp Hill, PA. The joys and sunshine of his life were his three grandchildren, Lucy Harman, Samuel Confair (also his fraternal brother) and Allison Confair. His caregivers were angels on earth, and his special friends, Cindy Fluharty, Christin and Curt Byrum, made his life vibrant.
Friends will be received at Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Road, Wheeling, WV for a memorial visitation on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the memorial service at 12:00 PM with Reverend Jake Steele officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following services.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
