DOLORES SCHLAG

Dolores Ritchie Schlag, 91, of Wheeling, WV, went to her little spot in Heaven March 4, 2023.

She was born March 27, 1931, in Wheeling, WV, Daughter of the late Michael J. Ritchie and Helen E. Timberlake, Ritchie, Wardle.

Dolores was a 1949 graduate from Mount de Chantal Academy and a former member of Edgwood Lutheran Church. Delores worked several years for the McLure Hotel and retired from Security National Bank in September 1991 after 32 years of service.

Dolores sang in the church choir, helped at Faith in Action caregivers and enjoyed writing to school friends and a pen pal in Derby, England, for over sixty years. Family and friends were very special to her, the joy of her life were her cats who gave her much comfort in her lonely hours.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Helen Eileen Ritchie in 1930; her husband, George W. Schlag; and a stepson Daniel J. Schlag.

Surviving are three stepchildren, Virginia (David) Cope, Dennis W. (Elaine) and Anne C. Klem; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Friends will be received Monday, March 6, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home Wheeling Chapel, 1400 Eoff St., Wheeling, WV. Services for Dolores will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Wheeling Chapel, with Pastor James M. Ellison officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood cemetery.
