Helen May Miller, 93, of Moundsville, WV, died on March 27, 2023 at the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus in Bellaire, OH. She was born on November 17, 1929 in Akron, Ohio, to Harry Russell and Una Hartley Shook. Helen graduated from Moundsville High School in 1946. She met the love of her life, William L. Miller, at a community dance, and they married on Jan. 31, 1948 at the Calvary Methodist Church. She was his devoted wife for 67 years.
Helen worked as a secretary at Fostoria and Louis Marx Toy factory before becoming a full-time homemaker.
She was a faithful member of Fairview Methodist Church for over 60 years where she played the piano and organ, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served on various boards and committees.
In the community, she was a 4-H leader, helped children at Limestone Elementary School with reading and math, served as past president of the Northern District United Methodist Women, past president of Marshall County CEO's, and was the Marshall County Belle in 2017.
As a mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother, she loved spending time with her family, especially playing games around the table and laughing until we cried.
She enjoyed making the family's favorite meal of chicken and noodles, homemade ice cream for dessert and raspberry pie with the berries we picked that day. Helen enjoyed sewing, crafts, doing word and jigsaw puzzles, reading, and gardening.
She listened to all kinds of music, but most of all, she loved attending live music events in the area and earned her title as the "Dancing Queen."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2014, an infant son, Richard Miller, and her two sisters, Doris Harrison and Shirley Yoho.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Mike) Lemasters of Indiana, PA; two sons, Gregg (Susan) Miller of San Jose, CA; and Jim (Dewetta) Miller of Moundsville; six grandchildren, Tiffany Bennington, Jennifer Burns, Jessica Lemasters, Ashley Miller, Christopher Lemasters, and Myranda Miller: six great-grand- children, Connor and Mallory Plowcha, Cole Goode, Michael and Ava Lemasters, and Nova May Howard.
Also surviving are her brother-in-law, Lyle Yoho, sisters-in-law, Ethel Mae Rulong and Margaret Miller, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Country Club Rehabilitation Campus for providing compassionate care and support during the last four years.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, April 2 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Monday, April 3, at 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Rush officiating at the Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Ave., Moundsville.
She will be laid to rest at Wood Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
