Jeanetta M. Schwinn O'Leary, 97, a life long resident of Elm Grove, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was born on February 14, 1926 in Wheeling, WV as the daughter of the late Charles W. & Lucile J. Bishop Schwinn; and granddaughter of the late Dr. Jacob & Margueretha Schwinn.
She was a graduate of Triadelphia High School and the OVGH School of Registered Nursing where she also served as a member of the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. She retired as an RN from OVMC with over 30 years of service where she managed the Heart Station and continued to serve as a volunteer at OVMC after retirement.
Jeanetta was a member of Stone Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir and participated in a number of volunteer projects over the years. She also enjoyed walking, working in her yard, and relaxing in the sun.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles J. Schwinn; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Schwinn and special friend Harry Keefer. Jeanetta is survived by her 2 sons, John (Cheryl) O'Leary of Triadelphia, WV & David (Brenda) O'Leary of Hanover, PA; 2 granddaughters, Rebecca L. (Patrick Keegan) O'Leary & Kara L. (Jan Bisaga) O'Leary both of Frederick, MD; and a nephew, C. Richard Schwinn of Crestview, FL.
Friends will be received on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, WV (304-242-2311) and on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Stone Presbyterian Church, 25 East Cove Avenue, Wheeling, WV from 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Christina Kestner officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stone Presbyterian Church, 25 East Cove Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 and The American Heart Association, 162 Court Street, Charleston, WV 25301.
