Mercia "Mercy" Lynn Earnest, 55, of Wellsburg, WV, died peacefully on Friday, March 3, 2023, at Valley Hospice North in Steubenville, OH after a fierce battle with cancer with her family by her side.
Born on July 26, 1967, in Steubenville, OH, a daughter of the late Earnest Wheeler and Vivian (Eppinger) Wheeler of Wellsburg, WV.
Mercy graduated from Brooke High School in 1984, then went on to Cosmetology School, and then received her RN from the Trinity School of Nursing. For over 18 years she worked as an EMT for the Brooke County Ambulance Service. After becoming a registered nurse she worked at UPMC Presbyterian on the trauma floor, Mercy Hospital trauma floor, and later for Trinity Medical Center ICU, then Weirton Medical Center emergency room, and finished her nursing career at Brightwood Center where taking care of the elderly was her passion.
She was Christian by faith as well as a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife, always putting other peoples needs before her own.
Mercy is survived by her loving husband of seven years, Merle Jay Earnest at home; six children, Kristen (Rob) Greenslate of Weirton, WV, Kayla Solomon of Wellsburg, WV, Stephen (Jen) Pulice of Wellsburg, WV, Nikki Earnest, Gerrica Earnest, and Brittany Earnest; grandchildren, Emerson, Rowan, Sawyer, Elliana, Zoey, Laken, Abbey, Tyler, and Harper; two sisters, Linda (Web) Yost and Debbie (Larry) Palmer both of Wellsburg, WV; along with several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mercy will be held on Tuesday, March 7 from 4-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March, 8, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV, with Rev. Jason Cline officiating.
Interment will follow in St. John Haven of Rest Cemetery in Colliers, WV.
Mercy's family would love to thank all the girls from Brightwood Center that put on a benefit for her last weekend it truly means the world to them and everyone that donated and took time to come out.
