Sandra "Sandy" Jean Huggins Renshaw, 88, of Wheeling, WV, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at WVU-Wheeling Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born May 30, 1934 in Jacksonburg, WV, daughter of the late Fred and Garnett Fluharty Huggins.
She grew up in Pine Grove, WV and attended Pine Grove High School. After graduating from O.V.G.H. School of Nursing in 1955 she began her career as a Registered Nurse. She retired from Peterson Hospital in 1983 to take on the role as caregiver to the family's elderly.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years: John F. "Jack" Renshaw, Jr. and one brother: Larry F. Huggins. Her family who love and miss her include son: John F. "Jeff" Renshaw (Vivian) of Ethel, LA; and daughter: Jean-Anne Renshaw (Daniel F. Devine) of Wheeling, WV; her sister: Linda Kay Isinghood of Simpsonville, SC; grandsons: Conner and Duncan Renshaw of Ethel, LA and one granddaughter: May Anne Devine of Wheeling.
Sandra was a voracious reader who instilled a love of reading in her children. In her final years at the Continuous Care Center, books were her pleasure and escape, reading a dozen books a week. To honor her, memorial contributions may be made to the Ohio County Public Library, Outreach Program, 52-16th Street, Wheeling, WV 26003. The family is grateful for the staff at the Continuous Care Center for their years of care and friendship.
A Memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
