Thelma L. (Hicks) Lennex, 95, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Continuous Care, Wheeling, WV.
She was born on May 21, 1927 in Cameron, WV, daughter of the late George and Cora (Hall) Hicks.
Thelma is a retired gift shop manager for OVMC and member of the former Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Elm Grove United Methodist Church.
She loved baking, and was praised by her family for her chocolate chip cookies.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer Lennex in 2003, brothers, George E. Hicks Jr. and Phillip S. Hicks; sisters, Leona M. Hicks, Mary E. Elkins, Virginia M. Davis, Susan J. Phillips and Ida "Ruth" DeDeyne.
Surviving are her children, Gretchen (Wayne) Cunningham of Bethlehem, WV, Karen S. (Joseph) Stewart of Bethlehem, WV, William A. (Pat) Lennex of Broadway, VA and Brent E. Lennex and his fiance, Chrissie Martin of Wheeling, WV; brother, Paul E. Hicks of Baton Rouge, LA; 5 grandchildren, Matthew (Robyn) Lennex of Gilbert, AZ,, Kristin (Jared) Quesenberry of Linville, VA, Stuart (Jennifer) Cunningham of South Park, PA, Stephanie (Erik) Strope of Troy, OH and Alison Stewart of Bethlehem; 6 great- grandchildren, Parker and Troy Cunningham, Benjamin and Daniel Strope and Hunter and Caleb Quesenberry and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 from 6-8 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling and again on Thursday, March 16 2023 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. with Rev. Debra Dague officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
