WILLIAM “BILL” GAUS

William Edward "Bill" Gaus, 77, of Delaware, OH passed away Sunday evening, February 26, 2023 at Grady Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 6, 1945 in Wheeling, WV to the late Joseph Gaus and Ruth Taylor Robinson. After graduating high school, Bill proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Bill spent the majority of his career working in logistics, spanning various roles and companies. After retiring, he worked as a security officer. He was beloved and respected by his coworkers.

He attended First Presbyterian Church in Delaware. A spiritual man, he was involved with many fellowship groups throughout his life. When able, he loved hiking, the outdoors going to movies, as well as bird watching. He was known for being ornery and having a sense of humor. He loved animals, especially his feline and canine companions, Murphy and Smokey. Bill was extremely proud and honored to be an Honor Flight recipient in 2021.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Wendi (fiance' Rich Davenport) Gaus of Pickerington; son Douglass Gaus of Colorado; grandchildren Andrew, Cameron, Layla, Cayden, Scarlet, and Addison; brother Jim (Shirley) Gaus of Catula, GA; half-sister Ruthann (David) Hannigan of Vermont; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by his step mother Paula Gaus, his wife Patricia "Patty", his brother Donald and his sisters Jackie Sebulsky and Joann Ackerman.

Celebration of life services will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH.
