William "Bill" E. King, 90, formerly of Maser Avenue, Warwood, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Wheeling Hospital.
He was born in Middle Creek, WV, on March 20, 1932, son of the late George Washington and Mary Margaret Rhoades King.
Bill was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wheeling, WV. He started the Exxon in Warwood in 1968, and acquired the Three Springs Exxon in Weirton, running both stations for several years before he retired. He was an avid gun collector and a member of Lewis Wetzel Rifle and Pistol Club, Warwood Lions Club, Nelson Lodge #5 A.F. & A.M. where he was past master, Temple of the Shrine, and El Tor Grotto.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Davis King; and sister, Doris Webb.
Surviving are his children, Susan Timberlake (Larry) of Follansbee, WV and William "Brad" King of Triadelphia, WV; six grandchildren, Greg (Rebecca) Timberlake, Jayme Timberlake, Lynsey Timberlake, Nicholas (Erin) King, Rita (Michael) Danehart, and Patrick W. King; three great grandchildren, Zachary W., Allison, and Sarah Timberlake; sister, Donna (Tom) Minger of Clayton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 2101 Warwood Avenue, Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-277-2722), where services will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. with Rev. R. Paul Schafer officiating.
Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
