Calvin Henry Matzke, Jr., 81, of Wheeling, WV, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Belmont Manor, St. Clairsville, OH.
He was born December 4, 1941, in Wheeling, WV, son of the late Calvin H. Matzke, Sr. And Kathryn Virginia Farmer Matzke.
Calvin lived much of his life in the New York Metropolitan area. During his time as an art teacher for Montclair Academy, Montclair, N.J. He was a Fulbright Scholar and lived and taught art and music in England.
Calvin held a Master of Arts degree in Fine Art from Montclair State University in New Jersey. He has exhibited his watercolors in New Jersey, New York, and England. Since his return to Wheeling, Calvin has exhibited in group shows at the Stifel Fine Arts Center (Crosscurrents), Bethany College, and Artworks Around Town.
Calvin's whole life was music and art. He sang at the Metropolitan Opera House. He was also a member of the St. Matthew's choir, Wheeling, WV. He loved attending and supporting the Wheeling Symphony performances.
Calvin is survived by a brother, Robert L. (Brenda) Matzke, nephew, Mark(Robyn) Matzke, niece, Suzie (Craig) Gerhardt, 4 great-nieces: Madeleine, Amelia, Taylor, and Gracie, and several cousins.

Friends will be received for a memorial visitation on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11:30 AM until the memorial service at 1:00 PM at Christ United Methodist Church, 1232 National Road, Wheeling, WV with Reverend Jake Steele officiating.
