CHARLES E. KYER, 91 of Weirton, WV passed away Tuesday April 25, 2023, at home. He was born April 30, 1931, in White Sulphur Springs, WV. The son of the late Fielding Hutton Kyer and Elizabeth Katherine Shrout Kyer. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary Patricia "Pat" Collins Kyer, whom he married in Liverpool, England. Charles was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a jet engine mechanic. His first retirement was from the West Virginia State Police after 25 years. Then, retiring from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. as corporate manager of security. Finally, from the Brooke County Courthouse security. Surviving is his sons, Joseph Kyer (Melissa) of Jane Lew, WV, David Kyer (Kimberly) of Weirton, WV, Michael P. Kyer (Kathy) of Dayton, OH, Kelly K. Kyer (Karen) of Haymarket, VA; Pop to seven grandchildren; thirteen great grand- children. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday April 28, 2023, at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, WV. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be rendered by the U.S. Air Force and American Legion Post No. 10 honor guards.
