Geraldine Rogers, 81, of Purlear, N.C. passed away Thurs., March 23, 2023, surrounded by family. Born May 20, 1941 in Fairfax County, VA, she was the daughter of Metra & Leila DeBusk Makely.
Geraldine was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses & was baptized in 1954, spending her life in sharing her faith in the Bible & the promises it holds for others.
On Sept. 3, 1960 she married the love of her life, John (Jack) Rogers, who survives. Together they spent 62 years raising a family in Virginia, later moving to W.Va., then to North Carolina to be close to family. Geraldine loved gardening & taking care of her flowers. Everyone was welcomed into their home sharing meals, laughter & lots of love. She was truly everyone's mother, sister & friend.
Surviving, are her husband & children: Makely (Suzanne) Rogers, Purlear, N.C. David (Mandy) Rogers, Boone, N.C.; Scott (Robin) Rogers, Washington, PA; Justin (Jennifer) Rogers, Wilkesboro, N.C.; Darlene Rogers, Minnesota; Bob Rogers, W.Va. Also surviving are a sister, Louise Yeatts & 2 brothers, Hayden (Janice) Makely & Wesley (Karen) Makely, & many cousins, nieces & nephews; 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents & 2 children: Glenn Rogers & Wanda Rogers, also 2 brothers, Leroy Makely, Clyde Makely & a sister Norma Makely.
A Memorial service will be held Sat., April 22 @ 2 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1515 River St., Wilkesboro, N.C. For those unable to attend in person, video conference will be available by contacting the local kingdom hall for access codes.
