Harold Henry Miller, 95, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, Friday, April 28, 2023.
He was born February 21, 1928, a son of the late Henry Conrad Miller and Rose Weigand Miller of St. Joseph's Settlement in Proctor, WV, the eldest of five. Harold was a man of faith, a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart recipient. Harold "Tuck" retired from AEP in 1990 with 35 years of service as a lineman. He was a devoted husband, father and a role model of faith. He lived his life with Christ as his center and enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting with his sons as well as completing puzzles & origami birds that he gifted to many loved ones.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of thirty-seven years, Idalu (Detweiler) Miller in 1990; two sisters, Rosemarie Miller Ebert, Eleanor Miller; a great granddaughter, Eva Rose and two brother-in-laws, Carl Ebert and Bob Shutler.
Harold is survived by six sons, Lance H. (Sally) Miller, Scott H. (Ruth Ann) Miller, Kelly J. (Janice) Miller, Todd W. (Patti) Miller, Rod J. (Mary Ann) Miller and Shawn T. (Harold) Miller; one daughter, Lorri Ann (E.J.) Miller Schodzinski; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Patty Shutler; one brother, Jim Miller and numerous relatives and friends.
Thanks to Over the Rainbow caregivers, IC Home Care and Amedysis for helping us keep Dad in his home for the past two and a half years. Harold, Dad, Pap will be sorely missed by all and remembered as a pillar of faith.
Family and friends will be received Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 2-6 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger St. Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, May 1, at 10 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Praveen officiating. Interment and military honors will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
