SUNSET: APRIL 17, 2023
On April 17, 2023 Michael "Mike" Arthur Clemont was called to the home prepared for him by our Dear Lord. He was born on December 15, 1949 in Wheeling. He will spend eternity just as he entered this world, peacefully resting in the loving arms of his Mother and Father.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Ethel Clemont of Wheeling.
He is survived by his Daughter, Rachelle Lynn Clemont of Wheeling. Brothers, Herbert (Bo) Clemont of Warwood and Curtis (Baby Boy ) Clemont (his wife Kate), and his nephews Curtis and Jack, of Webster, NY. Uncle John Clemont, of Roanoke VA, and a host of cousins and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael was a person whose life was dedicated to his Lord and Savior. Through his most difficult times there were three things he never strayed from, his unwavering faith, his never ending love for his family and his devotion to his friends. He always had a kind word and a smile for everyone he met. The true testament to Michael's spirit is the love and sincere outpouring of sympathy that we have received from all who knew him. Most people remember him as a member of the 1967 Warwood High State Champion Basketball team. But he was also a well-rounded athlete. In Little League, he was an All-Star pitcher for the Warwood Redbirds. In high school he was All OVAC in track and Cross Country, competing in the state championships both his junior and senior years. He attended college at West Virginia Institute of Technology where he played basketball and was WVIAC all conference in Cross Country, his team winning the 1969 WVIAC Championship, played at Oglebay. As good an athlete as he was, he was even more brilliant in the classroom. He majored and received his degree in Education and also minored in Engineering and Math at West Virginia Tech. His calling was to teach to coach sports to children who even to this day call him Mr Clemont, no matter how old they are. He received his Master's in Counseling and Guidance from West Virginia University and was only hours short of attaining his Doctorate in Psychology. He was a lifelong member of Macedonia Baptist Church, serving them for many years in the role of Deacon.
