ROBERT “BOB” TRENTON

He was a devoted educator at Webster School and was revered and loved by his students. He later worked as a bricklayer with his father for Trenton Construction, and built many of the schools, churches and banks in the Ohio Valley, as well as many buildings at Oglebay Park. His master craftsmanship and bricklaying/stone masonry handiwork can be seen all throughout the valley: the brick pathway in the Oglebay gardens, Wilson Lodge, St. Michael’s school, Jebbia’s Market just to name a few. Later in life, he managed over 65 rental apartments in Triadelphia. He also was a businessman and established Trenton Enterprises which managed the Tavern and Bubble and Tumble in South Wheeling, as well as the Corner Bar and Grill and Triumph Trophies in Triadelphia.
He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Catholic Church. In addition to being a very involved parishioner.
Bob was a wonderful father, and a loving & devoted husband. He was also a devoted and loyal son to his parents. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend with a generous heart and a giving spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand. He chose to see the best in others, believed in giving everyone a chance, and rooted for the underdog.
Bob was a star athlete in high school and college and his passion for sports carried on throughout his life. He was the director of the St. Vincent Basketball Tournament for several years (an event that he held near and dear to his heart). He also managed the Elm Grove Civics Baseball team for several years, and brought a semi- professional basketball team (the Wheeling Pioneers) to the valley. He was also a member of several champion winning pool and dart leagues.
