Robert "Bob" Lee Cook, 91, of Valley Grove, WV, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at home surrounded by his family. Bob was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born June 1, 1931, the son of the late Robert C. and Thelma Stephens Cook.
Bob was a graduate of Triadelphia High School, Class of '49, and later a graduate of West Liberty State College with a degree in Business.
He retired from Missco Inc., a mine and safety supply business that he founded over 50 years ago. He was a lifelong member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Bob was truly a lifelong learner. He loved animals, nature, cars and anything "on-sale". He also loved treasure hunting at auctions and often came home with very interesting "jewels". Above all, Bob put his family at the forefront of everything he did.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gary Wayne Cook.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Florence Evans Cook; daughters, Susan (Lewis) Nicholson and Sharon (Joseph Wilson) Cook; grandchildren, Lauren (Adam) Nicholson Horn and Brian Nicholson; great-grand- children, Addyson, Madelyn and Arabella Horn; siblings, Shirley (Bill) Hadorn, Jerry Cook and Cindy (Terry) Kent; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family will be received Friday, April 28, 2023, from 5 – 7 PM and Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Pastor R. Paul Schafer officiating at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304- 242-2311). Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Angels, whose compassionate care allowed Bob to remain in his home, especially Fran, Danielle, Christina, Debbie and Jennifer.
