GERTRUDE “PEPPER” ORGAN

Gertrude "Pepper" Naomi Dean Organ, 91, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Sand Hill, died Monday, May 15, 2023 at Wheeling Hospital.

She was born May 25, 1931, daughter of the late William Ralph Dean, Sr. and Gertrude Wyoming White Dean.

Pepper had a strong love for the Lord God and Jesus Christ and was a longtime member of Sand Hill United Methodist Church. Most recently, she was a member of the Elm Grove United Methodist Church, where she was in the Shepherding Program, praying for everyone daily. She volunteered at Valley Hospice and Liza's Place for 14 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jack Arley Organ; son, Sgt. Jack Douglas Organ, while serving in the U.S. Air Force in Alaska; brothers, Forrest "Jimmy" Dean, George Dean, Ivan Dean, Lawrence "Fireball" Dean, L. Melvin "Moe" Dean, William "Bill" Dean, Jr. and Ray Dean; sisters, Katherine "Katie" McCreary and Lora Bishop.

She is survived by her daughters, Jill Anthony of Wheeling, WV and Cathy (Paul) Chambers of West Alexander, PA; grandchildren, Craig (Heather Cook) Organ Bozick, Sammy (Courtney Bunfill) Jacovetty, Nick Jacovetty, Matthew (Emily) Chambers and Marissa (Montana) Logar; great -grandchildren, Zoey, Zaden, Mia, Bryson, Maverick and Cora; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2023 at 1 PM with Rev. Deb Dague officiating at Elm Grove United Methodist Church, 125 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV 26003 (304-242-1206). Interment to follow in Stone Church Cemetery.
