The Messenger of Joan's Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ called for her on Monday, 15, May 2023, while in the arms of her beloved Husband Frank. Joan was born to her parents Michele (Mike) and Pretoria Cerutti DiClemente on Mother's Day, 10, May 1936.
Joan is a member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. She was chrismated on Sunday, 20, Nov. 2016 by Father Demetrios Tsikouris and was sponsored by Pauline Hadjis, her Godmother.
Being reared in East Wheeling, Jefferson and Clay grade schools served Joan during her elementary education years, followed by Clay Junior High School. She was graduated from Wheeling High School in 1954. Joan was introduced to her future Husband Frank, by a mutual friend, Dale McCallister, on Christmas Eve, 1949 at the Family DiClemente home. Thus, began dating, high school sweethearts, betrothed and marriage on 18, Aug. 1957. Joan's Father owned and operated Stall 21 in the Market Street Auditorium where she began her fist work on weekends and summers beginning in grade school and ended after high school graduation. Pre-marriage to Frank she worked as a secretary for J. E. Miller Transfer and Storage and Franklin Finance Company. The married couple moved to Morgantown, WV where Frank completed his senior year at WVU. It was during this year that Joan worked as the librarian in the University's School of Chemistry. The couple returned to Wheeling in 1958 and she began working for the London Boiler Guaranty Company and Thomas Baron Industrial Real-estate Office. Her working career ended in 1962. Their first son Christopher was born on 11, Mar. 1972 and their son Paul was born on 23, Jun. 1974. She looked forward to spending the summers with Chris and Paul at their Longboat Key, Florida home during their youthful years. Once their sons advanced in school, Joan's interests turned to volunteer endeavors. She served as President of the Steenrod Grade School PTA, Board of Directors of Florence Crittendon, Meals on Wheels, Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary and the Ladies Philoptochos Society Board of Directors of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church. Travel was a part of the Family Joanou that always was appreciated, treasured and remembered. Travel really took off when Joan's Father sent them to Terranera, Italy in 1965 to continue for a younger generation the family bond with the roots of the Family DiClemente.
Those of the Family who now rest with the righteous in their temporary sleep are Joan's beloved Son Christopher, her Parents, Michele (Mike) and Pretoria Cerutti, Sister Lillian Chontos and Brothers Robert and George.
Those who remain are Her beloved Husband Frank, Son Paul, his Wife Amy, their Daughter Aubrei, Grandson Malachi McDermott, Great Granddaughter Mallory McDermott, Sisters- -in-law Clara Mae DiClemente and Sara Jean DiClemente, many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Joan forever will be remembered by her beautiful smile and the ease with which she made friends. The smile was there for anyone she encountered during the day, the mailman, craftsmen working in her home, always asking if the need water or something to eat, Hubbard Place neighbors, even a passing stranger on the street. Always the smile was there. The standards of the Hope Diamond make it the one jewel by which all other jewels are compared but never equaled. If most of the Hope Diamond standards could be given to mankind, Joan is it Daughter, Sister, Mother, Relative, Friend and Wife.

Visitation will be at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 154 Kruger Street, Elm Grove Chapel on Friday, 19 May, 3:00-8:00pm. Trisagion Service will be held at 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be at St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, 2215 Chapline Street, Saturday, 20May, 10:00am followed by internment in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church or the choice of the donor.
