Matthew Shane Hogsett, fondly known as "Matt", 53, of Windsor Heights, WV, passed away peacefully Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Wheeling Hospital – WVU.
He was born on July 29, 1969, in Huntington, WV, a son of Billy and Theresa (Anderson) Hogsett. Matt was a US Army National Guard veteran and spent his professional career working as a Federal Technician Aviation as a Helicopter Mechanic. Matt was a member of The American Legion and The Eagles Post 1891. Alongside his work, he had a passion for cooking and would make his loyal foodie fans envious with his photos of his dishes and attended the culinary school at Northern Community College.
Matt is preceded in death by his biological dad, "Daddy Gary" Hogsett and his paternal grandparents, Yvonne "Nan nan" and William Hogsett.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 4 years, Tina Derksen; 2 daughters, Cassie Mathley and McKenzie Hogsett; 3 brothers, including his twin brother, Mark Hogsett; 2 grandchildren, Jerrika Mathley and Cooper Bowman and numerous other family members and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Matt's life will be held on Saturday, May 27th, 2023 at the Elm Grove Funeral Home, 154 Kruger St., from 1:00pm until time of service at 3:00pm.
Though he is no longer with us, his kindness, generosity, and love will always be remembered.
