Carol Ruth Stephens, 75, of McMechen, WV passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, June 2, 2023 in Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 11, 1947, in Wheeling, daughter of the late Nile and Naomi (Warden) Stephens.
Carol attended Russell Nesbitt and Northwood Day Treatment. She loved babies and animals, especially horses and dogs, but her favorite thing to do was going shopping for purses. She enjoyed singing and was fond of all holidays but she loved Christmas most of all. The family has so many cherished memories of taking Carol and her sister Brenda shopping every Saturday and ending the day with dinner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Brenda Stephens; brothers- in-law, David Lucas Sr. and William Dillon.
She is survived by her brother, Gary L. Stephens, of Dillonvale, OH; two sisters, Donna Lucas (Tom Musser) and Pamela Dillon, both of Wheeling; nieces and nephews, Dave (Becky) and Doug (Jessie) Lucas, Penni Joseph (Scott), Jeff (Veronica) and Scott (Laura) Stephens and several great-nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Tuesday June 6, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, 26003 (304- 242-2311). Interment to follow in Park View Memorial Garden.
The family will be forever grateful for the love and care of Leasha and her staff at Riverview Group Home in McMechen. They were a second family to Carol for the past 22 years.
