Gary L. Hoffman, age 80 of Wheeling, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at WVU Medicine, Wheeling Hospital.
He was born September 3, 1942 in Wheeling son of the late Russell and Wanda Linn Hoffman.
He graduated from Wheeling High School and attended WVU for two years.
Gary was a member of Wheeling Elks Lodge, Glen Dale F.O.P.A. Lodge, past member of Elm Grove Eagles and an active member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
He was an avid sports fan who loved baseball, football and playing golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon Lee (Kohler) Hoffman; his maternal grandparents, Charles W. and Ada E. Linn; his paternal grandparents, Edward and Ethel Hoffman; a brother-like uncle, R. Glen (Eleanor) Linn.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patricia A. Sacco Hoffman; four daughters, Terri (Marty) Hewitt of Moundsville, Susan (Jeff) Sohonage of Lancaster, OH, Sherri (Steve) Anderson of Moundsville and Cathy Reuther of Wheeling; his 101 year old mother- in-law, Bertha Sacco of Wheeling; nine grandchildren; including Shay Eggleston, his special grand- daughter/nurse; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in- law and sisters-in-law, including Robert and Sharon Sacco who were best friends and euchre partners.
There will be no visitation at Gary's request. Private services and interment will be held at Halcyon Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
