KEITH SMITH

Keith C. Smith, 77, of Middlebourne, WV passed from this life on Monday, May 29, 2023, while at Judge's Personal Care.

Keith was born May 22, 1946, in Frew, WV, son of the late George B. and Evelyn K. Smith.

He was a retired beltman for North American Coal. Graduate of Tyler Co. High School in 1964 and Salem College in 1968, where he played football. Enlisted in the U.S. Navy and did training at Great Lakes Illinois. Graduated first in his radar school and was sent to Dam Neck, VA for a year of shore duty. Spent two years in Gaeta, Italy aboard the USS Springfield, flag ship of the 6th fleet. After completing his tour of duty, returned home to help his parents run the family farm. Enjoyed taking care of his black angus cattle. Was a member at Alma-Ripley Chapel UMC, where he served as janitor for over twenty years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Smith and grandson, Luke Smith.

Surviving is his wife, Janie Smith; three sons, David (Heather) Smith, Dale (Lesli) Smith and Troy (Kelly) Smith; grandchildren, Maegan and Zach Britton, Elijah and Owen Smith, Logan and Zoey Smith, Adam Clegg and Alison (Ken) Barrows.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Furbee-Williams Funeral Home, 217 Main St., Middlebourne where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023 with burial to follow in Beechwood Cemetery in Alma, WV. with the Honor Guard conducting graveside services.
