Nancy Louise Godwin, 89, of Wheeling, WV, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Moundsville Healthcare Center. She was born on July 3, 1933, in Wheeling, WV, daughter of the late Del and Hilda Horstemeyer.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom Godwin and her brother-in-law, Robert Williamson.
Nancy is survived by her son, Keith (Kelly) Godwin of Huntsville, AL; her daughter, Elaine (Steve) Sedilko of Wheeling; her grandchildren, Mandy (Julio) Cano of Grand Rapids, MI, Nathan Godwin of Huntsville, AL, Jessica Sedilko and Matthew (Ashley) Sedilko, both of Wheeling; great- grandchildren, Gabriel, Lucas, Luisa and Cali Mae; a brother, Duke (Sherlene) Horstemeyer of Weirton, WV; a sister, Shirley Williamson of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, who were all very dear to her.
Nancy graduated from Wheeling High School and went on to get her degree in Education to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher. She taught for 29 years at Ritchie Elementary School. Nancy was an active lifelong member of Zion (now Grace) Evangelical Lutheran Church where she, at times, played the organ, directed the choir, taught Sunday School, and was involved in many church activities and committees throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the caregivers of Amedisys Hospice and Moundsville Healthcare Center for their kindness, care, and support during Nancy's final journey home.
Friends and family will be received at Kepner Funeral Home 900 National Rd. Wheeling, WV, on Wednesday June 28, 2023, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Friends will then be received from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:30am at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, WV, with Reverend Curtis Black officiating.
Interment will follow at Park View Memorial Gardens 1922 Warden Run Rd. Wheeling, WV.
