ROBERT GORBY

Robert "Bob" Lee Gorby, 82, of New Martinsville, WV left this world on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 while at Ruby Memorial Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Bob was born October 23, 1940, in Littleton, WV son of the late William Elvy and Garnet (Williams) Gorby.

He was a retired welder for the former Ormet Corp., served his country in the Army Reserve National Guard, a former Wetzel County Commissioner, member of Holy Mens group at church, Relay for Life, New Martinsville Moose #931, Marshall Wetzel Labor Council AFLCIO trustee, board member of the Little Kanawha Resource Conservation District and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carol (Stetz) Gorby (2022) and sister, Joan (Bob) Petitte.

Surviving are three children, Bryan (Melanie) Gorby, Cindy (Randy) Adams and Greg (Cindy) Gorby; grandchildren, Emily Napier, Rebekah Gorby, Kayla Adams, Austin (Kelly) Adams, Justin Gorby and Grant Gorby; great- grandchildren, Bridgette and Wyatt Napier; sister-in-law, Wilma Ornduff; special niece, Debra Piktel and several nieces and nephews.

Friends received noon-7:30 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023, at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Martinsville with burial to follow in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville.

Vigil service will be held 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2023.
