CLARA DiCLEMENTE

Clara DiClemente, beloved wife, mother, and homemaker of a fruitful home in Martins Ferry, Ohio, peacefully passed away on June 30, 2023, at Wheeling Hospital (WVU Medicine) in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was born on December 1, 1927, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to the late Henry A. and Eva Mary (Weitzel) Bierkortte.

Throughout her long and fulfilling life, Clara dedicated herself to creating a loving and nurturing environment for her family. She cherished her role as a homemaker and took great joy in tending to her loved ones' needs. Clara's interests were many and diverse; she adored reading, loved music, and treasured the bond she shared with her family.

Clara had a grand enthusiasm for New York City, where she visited her son dozens of times, first with her husband George and later alone. She loved its museums, galleries, concert halls, movie theaters, its restaurants, watching the art of dance, attending Broadway shows, and enjoyed socializing with Michael and Craig's many friends.

Her great love for New York City, its history, art, and of course the walks she loved to take in Central Park, is something her loved ones will remember fondly about her.

Clara is preceded in death by her loving spouse, George DiClemente, who passed away in 2005. She also joins her parents, Henry and Eva Mary Bierkortte, along with her brothers Henry, Herbert, George, John, Robert, and Russell Bierkortte, and sisters Evelynn Hohnsee, Gladys Hersey, and Lois Bierkortte. Additionally, Clara was preceded in death by her very special niece, Beverly McCallum.

Left to cherish Clara's memory is her devoted son, Michael DiClemente, who has shared 50 years with his partner, Craig Bowley of New York, New York. Clara also leaves behind a multitude of nieces and nephews who will forever hold her dear in their hearts.

Also surviving is brother-in-law Frank Joanou, and sister- in-law Jean DiClemente.

The visitation for Clara will be held at the Wheeling Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory on Thursday, July 6th, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, with a break until 6:00 pm and concluding at 8:00 pm. On Friday, July 7th, a funeral service will be held at St. Alphonsus Church, starting at 11:00 am. Following the funeral service, Clara will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling WV, 26003 or to the Alzheimer's Foundation, as this was something near and dear to Clara's heart.

Clara DiClemente's legacy will always be remembered with love and admiration by all those whose lives she touched. May her gentle spirit find eternal peace and may her cherished memories bring comfort to those left behind.
