KATHRYN STENGER

Kathryn Bridget Stenger (nee McShane), 91, formerly of Benwood, WV and Mount Vernon, OH, passed away July 14, 2023 peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Loving and beloved wife of the late Gerald E. Stenger, formerly of Warwood, WV and Mount Vernon, OH. Married on April 16, 1955 at St John's Catholic Church in Benwood, WV and long time parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, OH where they raised their 6 children.

Beloved daughter of Thomas and Augusta McShane (nee Scanlan), formerly of Benwood, WV and Mount Vernon, OH.

She was a graduate of Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing and was a dedicated nurse devoted to giving the best care and compassion to all of her patients and family. She is greatly loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her children Mary Joan Kuczek, Roberta (Robert) Bugaj, Rebecca (Michael) Johnson, Patricia (Daniel) Callan, Thomas (Michelle Scott) Stenger, Bridget Stenger, and her loving grandchildren Anna (Matthew) Engel, Mark (Amy) Callan, Magdalyn (Joseph) Sobek, Kathryn (Dean) Bilz, and Caroline Kuczek and 6 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her cousin, Evelyn Brill, and her sisters in laws, Renatha (Stenger) Cornelia and Phyllis (Stenger) Heindl.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church of Maple Heights, Ohio or Vinney Hospice of Menorah Park in Beachwood, Ohio.

Services will be held at Altmeyer Funeral Homes, located at 1400 Eoff Street, Wheeling WV 26003.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 18, from 2 p.m. until a rosary at 5:30 p.m., ending at 6 p.m. A Mass will be held to celebrate the life of Kathryn on Wednesday, July 19, at St. Joseph's Cathedral beginning at 10 a.m. Following the Mass, a procession from the Cathedral to Mt. Calvary will occur.
